One of the top curiosities is whether one can make cheese from almond milk. Luckily, making almond milk cheese is not as difficult as it might seem. There are some recipes that can result in very nice tasting almond milk cheese.
Almond Milk Cheese – The Recipe
Normally, making cheese from almond milk will require homemade almond milk. One has to sprout about two cups of almonds. This can be done by soaking them in water for about two hours. It’s best if the container with the almonds and the water is kept at room temperature. The almonds have to be blenched for about five seconds and then rinsed with cold water. This will help you get the almonds’ skins off.
Unlike for regular almond milk, when you’re making almond milk cheese, the amount of almonds will have to be equal with the amount of water that will be blended together on high speed. After everything is blended well and homogenous, the mixture has to be poured in a glass bowl. The bowl has to be covered with cheesecloth. The bowl with the mixture needs to stay like this for twelve hours at room temperature.
Almond Milk Cheese – The Last Step
During this time, everything will start to ferment. After this step is done, the product will have to be put in a fine mesh bag. Some people even use stockings for this. Make sure you hang the almond milk cheese somewhere where you don’t mind the whey that will be pouring out for about 8 to 12 hours, until all of it will drain.
After all of these steps, the almond milk cheese is ready and you can finally season it with whatever spices or vegetables you prefer. Make sure you put all of it in glass jars in the refrigerator, where it will stay good for about five days. Almond milk has so many uses!
